I hail from the red area of Western Kentucky as many know. This can have many frustrations in itself as we deal with not only Conservatives in our party who consistently vote Republican while registered Democrats, but we also are forced to deal with many in the national party ridiculing our unfunded efforts and writing us off as Democrats. I am sure many Democrats in other parts of the country feel the same way, ignored and powerless.
I have been collecting baseball cards for some time now. After mowing a couple of yards on my day off, I ventured to downtown Paducah, Kentucky to an antique shop I buy cards and supplies from to buy some supplies I needed to protect some new cards for my collection. Much to my surprise when I was leaving the shop, I saw a CNN bus parked a block away. Curiosity led me to go and see just what CNN was doing in Paducah, Kentucky.

Poor Chris Van Hollen. He is mad at Democrats for god forbid wanting to pursue their agenda now that we have won an historical victory. He apparently doesn't share our disgust with Democrats that run, take our money, and then proceed to get to Washington and stab us in the back. Again, he is back with the typical DLC-type argument that we should not have a backbone.
Remember the race for Kentucky's First Congressional District last year?? Remember "Crazy Democrat" Heather Ryan?? Well sometimes folks confuse insanity with genius. Why? Because in the wake of the terrible Icestorm that hit Kentucky, her words proved eerily prophetic. Unfortunately for us, this young unconventional candidate knew just what she was talking about.

Well, after well over a year of writing for many candidates who ran for the 2008 election, the final week is upon us. In the First Congressional District of Kentucky, I feel nothing but pride for the fight we have undertaken. In a time when the word "grassroots" is thrown around everywhere, we have truly epitomized that kind of movement to fight for our homes when nobody else seemed willing. I could not be more proud of our candidate, our campaign, and the fight we have undertaken.
Well, we all know that the Ed Whitfield campaign in Western Kentucky are thieves and vandals, led by a coward, but now they are desperate. After Heather started running ads in Hopkinsville, a story ran that accused Heather of "faking her own death". What??? You must read on.....
Here at Ryan for Kentucky, one of our proudest accomplishments has been recieving the endorsement of Progressive Blue. One read through the posts on this blog and one can easily see that the Democrats here represent the heart and the soul of our party. It has been a wild ride for us here, and many of you have been along on it with us since the beginning. I wanted to look back at some of the things we accomplished together.
Americans appear ready to sweep a lot of Democrats into office on November 4. Not only does Barack Obama maintain a solid lead in the popular vote and electoral vote estimates, several Senate races that appeared safe Republican holds a few months ago are now considered tossups.
Polling is harder to come by in House races, but here too there is scattered evidence of a coming Democratic tsunami. Having already lost three special Congressional elections in red districts this year, House Republicans are now scrambling to defend many entrenched incumbents.
In this diary, I hope to convince you of three things:
1. Some Republicans who never saw it coming are going to be out of a job in two weeks.
On a related note,
2. Even the smartest experts cannot always predict which seats offer the best pickup opportunities.
For that reason,
3. Activists should put resources behind many under-funded challengers now, instead of going all in for a handful of Democratic candidates.
At Whitfield Trucking it has been an astounding 14 yrs on the job. In the time we have had our doors open, we have delivered much for Kentucky, and the nation. Yes, our shining accomplishments include, debt, de-regulation, and poverty for the middle class. Since it pays so well, we keep our tractor-trailer running for partisan hackery.
I can tell my fellow Kentucky Democrats one thing. As the election winds to a close, I am getting an increasingly bitter taste in my mouth. I am so glad we appear to be winning nationally, but in the state of Kentucky, and in Western Kentucky in particular I feel particularly distressed.

Well, Heather Ryan has her first T.V. ad completed. It is a humourous take on Exxon Ed Whitfield's record of serving Big Oil and the Bush Administration which I have named "The Zephyr Hillbilly". It is our 30 sec. spot, and we have a couple of more in the offing.
