UK opens Inquiry Into Iraq War (Thank you UK)

by: funluvn1

Tue Nov 24, 2009 at 06:39:28 AM EST

Well, it's about damned time.  I would have hoped it would happen here in the USA prior to this very day, however the cards were dealt and that Ace-in-the-Hole never showed up, unfortunately.

The British Government has finally decided to open an inquiry, maybe even so much as an actual investigation to the events leading up to the signing on of Tony Blair as George Bush's very Poodle Partner in the War For Oil.

Limbaugh Cannot Accept the Truth of 9-11

by: RDemocrat

Fri Sep 11, 2009 at 22:36:04 PM EDT

Crossposted from Hillbilly Report.

9-11 should not be a political statement for anyone. It should be a sad day of remembrence that many people died because of hatred and incompetence. However, since the very day it occured it has constantly been used as a hammer to pound the agenda of a miguided bunch people with an unenlightened vision of the world down everyone else's throat.

(oh the hypocrisy... - promoted by poligirl)

After rubber-stamping the disgraceful failed Bush years in foreign policy Republican leaders are trying to act like they know what they are talking about and that thinking folks have not seen through their facade. Across the board they offer no new vision on any issue foreign or domestic and still continue to spew forth the same failed policies that voters rebuked. You would not know that they are so void of real ideas though, because they sure can critisize those that do have a few.

That is a rhetorical Question of course, but it's likely that NOT even "free market", Corporations-first Republicans, would want to return to the days, of dying Lakes, dying Forests, and "emphysema alerts".

The "Cap and Trade" Policies, enforced by the first President Bush' administration, as part of the Clean Air Act -- ACTUALLY WORKED!

The EPA calls it an amazing "Success Story" ...

Economic Failure Was a Successful Policy for Republicans

You know, with all the railing and gnashing of teeth at the Obama budget, and the way that the Obama Administration is approaching the crashed economy of our country one would think that our new President inherited a country that was booming with economic prosperity. To hear the opponents of President Obama's agenda tell it, he has single-handedly destroyed our economy and should take the full blame for the hard times that have beset our country. Sometimes one simply has to make tough decisions, and upset a few people and our country has seriously needed someone with courage enough to do that for a long time.

Conservatives Run Ad on McConnell's Ridiculous "Jesus" Comparison

by: RDemocrat

(conservative idiocy... - promoted by poligirl)

Conservatives are becoming increasingly ridiculous. We know they have long used religion to divide our country. We know that they are desperate after losing all over the country. However, their latest tactic is as disgusting as anything ever dreamed up by the greediest and least patriotic among us.

"Feds Overpaid for Wall Street Assets" - Really?

by: edgery

Fri Feb 06, 2009 at 13:42:49 PM EST

Ran across this and almost fell off my chair laughing:

Watchdogs: Government overpaid for Wall Street assets

WASHINGTON - The federal government overpaid by about $78 billion for stock and other troubled assets when it bailed out big banks last year, and it lacks sufficient internal controls to police and protect taxpayers' investment in the institutions, government watchdogs said Thursday. ...

REALITY CHECK AHEAD plus open thread

by: edgery

Tue Jan 06, 2009 at 22:16:20 PM EST

Welcome to Reality Check Ahead.

realityWelcome to a taste of reality!  Where we take a look at some immediate topics, sometimes offering our own version of reality or highlighting what the corporate media would like us to overlook.

So, traveling down this highway of life in the ole US of A, let's gather some reality around us to fend off the wingnuts, whackos, and others with their fingers in their ears singing "la la la la la la..."

Reality isn't always the most fun or even the most popular, and in politics, it is certainly not always easy to discern.  Still, like a good swift kick in the pants, reality has a habit of trumping the alternative so it's a good idea to keep an eye out for it.

As is our norm around these parts, there are 2 rules:

  1. Reality, not conspiracy theories, reign - make a claim, expect to back it up with something other than "some say..." or "I read it somewhere..."
  2. Be nice to each other.

Updated: Bush: Memoirs to highlight HIS difficult times in Office

by: funluvn1

Sat Dec 06, 2008 at 07:20:39 AM EST

("Idiot in charge" proving this quotation incredibly correct. Over and over again... - promoted by poligirl)

For the love of all that is holy, Mr. Bush!

What the hell is it with your run-away ego and your inability to understand that the people of this country, HELL, the people of this world, do not care about what you feel to be YOUR personal crises' that you've faced while in office.

You do realize that the entire population of your country is currently mired in a devastating recession of your making?
You realize that your attempt to wipe your backside with the Constitution of this country, your green light to torture people, your thumbing of your nose regarding the "rule of law", your lies, your wars due to lies, your inept ignorance of reality and your inability to look at yourself in the mirror and say even to yourself "I was wrong", have made you the most un-pitied person in the world?

You do realize this, don't you Mr. Bush?  See, I'm not getting a warm fuzzy on the fact that you do realize this.  Let me explain.

Actually, let the snippets from this article on CNN explain.  Then I'll pile on.
