Bush

Love notes from your neighborhood contrarian

by: edgery

Mon Jun 08, 2009 at 03:48:47 AM EDT

Dear America,

Politics is, by many accounts, a game, one of wheeling and dealing, of shifting alliances and jockeying for position.  Which may explain more about the sorry state of our national governance than politicians, pundits and assorted in-the-knows  care to admit.

Do you know what Bush did to the elderly?

by: OneCarolinaGirl

Sat Mar 07, 2009 at 09:57:46 AM EST

There is a wonderful legal website in North Carolina that deals in elder law and the attorneys there are wonderful and the help on the website is free.  Their apparent intent is to reach those with 'large estates' or perhaps litigants who would need to hire their services, but all are welcome.  I cannot begin to say how much they helped me during my step-dads long-term illness and ultimate death in 2005.  Now they are pointing out some things that Bush did low key and it is a little known act.

(if you haven't seen this yet, it's worth a read - some funny for your midweek!   :D - promoted by poligirl)

This gem arrived courtesy of the Internet. If you know or hear of the original author, please post here along with its link to give them some credit.

The Bush Library is being built in Dallas. The "W" Presidential Library will include:

The Hurricane Katrina Room, which is still under construction and will remain so for at least a decade.

The Alberto Gonzales Room, where you won't be able to remember anything.

Good Morning America, how are you after 8 years of Bush and McCain?

by: OneCarolinaGirl

Fri Oct 24, 2008 at 16:13:10 PM EDT

This is my latest 'video tribute' to the lack of successes of George W. Bush and his good friend John McCain.  Don't let the cover photo confuse you.  YouTube chooses those and I can change them which I have elected to do.  It just takes them a while to get it done.

8th House Scorpions and How NOT to Recycle War Profiteers

by: Laura Serena

Thu Oct 23, 2008 at 11:22:15 AM EDT

WARNING! Might contain spoilers if you could find them through the snark.

In John Cusack's brilliantly deranged War, Inc., Hilary Duff sticks a live scorpion down her pants, Cusack fights Sir Ben Kingsley in the back of a garbage truck, Dan Aykroyd does a moving portrayal of Dick Cheney on the toilet, and Halliburton-style war profiteers wage the very first American war to be entirely outsourced to a private corporation. Did I mention I love this movie?

I don't think I've ever written so much about one movie before, but when Mr. Cusack cross-posted both of my previous pieces about War, Inc. to his MySpace blog, I made a rash mistake. In a comment, I wrote:

If you are going to keep cross-posting these, I'm going to have to find new angles to use to write about this movie. You know that, right?

Speaking of John Cusack's movies, why do I suddenly hear the Carpenters on my radio? What if that devious mind keeps cross-posting this stuff? Have I just doomed myself by my word to an eternal damnation of writing about War, Inc. until Halliburton brings about the end times? This could get as scary as, well, Stephen King.

Bush Administration issued secret memos approving torture to CIA

by: OklahomaVoter

Sat Oct 18, 2008 at 11:30:09 AM EDT

(news that the "news" media isn't covering - and they should be... - promoted by poligirl)

Did this article slip past you like it did me? The Washington Post has uncovered two secret memos: LINK.

The memos were the first -- and, for years, the only -- tangible expressions of the administration's consent for the CIA's use of harsh measures to extract information from captured al-Qaeda leaders, the sources said. As early as the spring of 2002, several White House officials, including then-national security adviser Condoleezza Rice and Vice President Cheney, were given individual briefings by Tenet and his deputies, the officials said. Rice, in a statement to congressional investigators last month, confirmed the briefings and acknowledged that the CIA director had pressed the White House for "policy approval."

The People are about to speak - Ballot Box Irregularities - 10/08/08

Okay, so we are less than 30 days from election 2008 a day many of us have looked forward to for years!  It's the day that we can take action against the Republicans.   A day when George Bush cannot legally (not that that every stopped him) be on the ballot.  A day for hope, justice, even revenge!  In our elation and joy at just seeing another election day, let us not forget to proceed with EXTREME caution and step up to try to help guarantee that our votes will count.

Pin the tail of collapse on House leadership--A rant

by: OklahomaVoter

Wed Oct 01, 2008 at 14:14:26 PM EDT

Nancy Pelosi carries much blame for the breakdown in passing the bailout but NOT because of her "I'm holding my nose while voting" speech trying to herd Democrats to vote yes. Rather, it's the failure of BOTH Republican and Democratic House leadership to impeach Bush and Cheney for violating the Constitution, and replace them with trustworthy heads of state who govern for the good of all citizens!

Holy Hell ! The Knuckle Draggers are Beatin' on Bush over Bailout

by: funluvn1

Thu Sep 25, 2008 at 10:22:21 AM EDT

Over at Townhall.com, a right-wingnut-site-directly-from-Hell-with-no-middle-man, they are thowing their once revered Fearless Leader under the 18 wheeler over this financial debacle that the Bush Administration has foisted upon the entire World economy.
Yes, ladies and gentlemen, Mr. Bush is being called out by his own yammering, slobbering group of crazies for not owning up to Washington's role in the cratering of our economy.  And it isn't pretty.

The Bail Out: AMERICAN KRISTALLNACHT

by: Maryscott O'Connor

Mon Sep 22, 2008 at 12:23:30 PM EDT

The Bush/Paulson Economic Bail Out Proposal is an American Kristallnacht in the making.

So posits a DKos diarist named Mr. Tek.

And before anyone starts screaming about Godwin's Law and the Jewish persecution of Kristallnacht... THIS IS ABOUT ECONOMICS. As was Kristallnacht, as Tek's essay explains.

I have taken the liberty of editing Tek's piece for spelling, grammar, syntax and punctuation, and emphasising elements of the essay I feel are important to the historical parallel. I've also reproduced only that part of the essay I believe relevant to the argument.
