Proud To Be A Republican

by: Michael Conrad

Fri Jul 11, 2008 at 09:52:54 AM EDT

(or if you prefer, some lovely snarkiness for you morning instead... :D - promoted by poligirl)

The RNC is having a contest to encourage their base to talk about "a cause greater than themselves."  This is confusing, because in the mind of the conservative Republican base, there is no such thing as a cause greater than themselves.
Michael Conrad :: Proud To Be A Republican
We all know how much the GOP likes distorting patriotism.  Maybe if I take a patriotic song and rework the lyrics to fit the upcoming Republican convention in Minneapolis-Saint Paul, the party will use it.

Here is my entry.

Proud To Be A Republican

(Press play if you want to sing along)

When George W. Bush was re - elected, you know I started to dance
It was almost as exciting, as when I took my last wide stance
He's been our greatest president, how can anyone deny this?
It really sucks that reality has a liberal bias

And I'm proud to be a Republican, there is no cause greater than me
Don't forget that we sent men to die, based on lies about WMD
And we'd gladly vote yes, as a bloc, to go to war with Iran today
Cause there ain't no doubt, we're the GOP
We wrecked the U.S.A

From bathroom stalls in Minnesota, to racist ads in Tennessee
From the idiot from Texas, to Rove to Dick Cheney
From our yachts to our mansions, from Wall Street to Santropay
We love to pass the Grey Poupon, so it's time we stand and say

That I'm proud to be a Republican, there is no cause greater than me
Don't forget that we sent men to die, based on lies about WMD
And we'd gladly vote yes, as a bloc, to go to war with Iran today
Cause there ain't no doubt, we're the GOP
We wrecked the U.S.A

And I'm proud to be a Republican, there is no cause greater than me
Don't forget that we sent men to die, based on lies about WMD
And we'd gladly vote yes, as a bloc, to go to war with Iran today
Cause there ain't no doubt, we're the GOP
We wrecked the U.S.A

Poll
Who is the face of the Republican Party?
Cheney
McCain
Bush
Delay
Rove
Craig
McConell
Foley
Tancredo
All of the above, which makes for one fugly face.

BRAVO!! ENCORE!! (3.00 / 5)
I had a tear in my eye when I got to the Grey Poupon lyrics!  I feel quite poupon'ed by the Republicans recently and it just hit home for me.

Take a bow, Maestro!

I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them.
Adlai Stevenson

You've outdone yourself again (3.00 / 4)
and that Grey Poupon, literally, is made by stewing and mashing masses of little mustard seeds...
Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is like to a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and sowed in his field:

Which indeed is the least of all seeds: but when it is grown, it is the greatest among herbs, and becometh a tree, so that the birds of the air come and lodge in the branches thereof. Matthew 13:31-2

Supreme Court decision: one narrow vote for corporate personhood, one giant leap toward Banana Republic status.

I just had to weigh in with a slight alternative chorus... (3.00 / 4)
chorus

and I'm proud to be a Republican, where at least I won't have flea's

and I must salute the Neo-Cons, who made it this way for me

and I would gladly Stand UP! right behind you and protect our cash today!

'cause their ain't no doubt I love this scam, God Bless The Republican Way

Michael, I think I'm going to join the Keyes Kidz myself.  I don't like fleas....

I have been thinking that I would make a proposition to my Republican friends... that if they will stop telling lies about the Democrats, we will stop telling the truth about them.
