Edwards asks delegates to stick with him

by: peacock

Okay people. There is a diary at Kos about this so please go there and support it. Edwards wants his platform to be recognized and we need to do what we can to make that happen.

The work continues on. (3.00 / 9)
Edwards continues to work on.

Much to be done to make the world a better place.

America is better than this! ~ John Edwards

Yes! JRE is commited to working for the (3.00 / 8)
policies he launched, as are we who support JRE in his efforts.

Let´s make it happen.

No One Better Than John Edwards (3.00 / 11)
and as I am a delegate for JRE, I will stand with him all the way to the convention.  Go John Go!  Hope lives on!

Thank you, IM4JRE! I would expect no less (3.00 / 10)
of you, because I know how staunch a supporter you have always been, but I do thank you.

Our hard won delegates must stay in play, especially when JRE calls for them to do so.

Thank you peacock (3.00 / 2)
for your very kind words.  I do really care so much for him and his visions, I want to stand with him because he brings the best to his platform.

John Edwards has earned those delegates - (3.00 / 10)
like he has earned so many of our votes. I want to see him push a ton of buttons at the convention! Thanks for the news!

I am a Lost Donkey

Damned Right he has (3.00 / 9)
And if Florida gets seated, he'll have a few more. JRE pulled more than 15% in a handful of Florida Congressional Districts, in Northern & Central FL.

JRE even won Holmes County FL with 49% of the vote:

Holmes County FL-01:

JRE 1,363
HRC 835
BHO 299
Kuc  30
cnn politics 2008

Of course this gets into the debate over whether or not the FL Primary should count. It would be to John's advantage if it did.

I didn't realize he had taken so much (3.00 / 9)
is FL - but if Dean gets his way, FL is not going to count. I know Hillary wants FL too...the convention is not going to be like Dean planned, and I think there may be more than one surprise to come.

Firstly, watch those CNN % amounts (3.00 / 10)
Just eyeballing those counts JRE won more than 50% there (Holmes County)

Here are the FL Results via CNN:

http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/20...

John got 14% Statewide and did his least best in populous South Florida (Palm Beach,Broward,Miami-Dade). He did very well outside those areas. Unfortunetly CNN does not have a breakdown by CD's. FL is so heavily Gerrymandered , so, I'm not surprised.
Because it is so heavily Gerrymandered for "Minority" districts, BHO's best performance is concentrated in a handful of Congressional Districts in South Florida.

While I conur with Dean's decision, Florida is not comparable to Michigan, in Florida all the Dem Candidates were on the Ballot receiving National Coverage via the Debates, etc.

They just didn't technically "campaign" there though BHO's national ads were playing in FL, and possibly HRC's also.

John Edwards also carried his birthplace county of Oconee Co. SC (3.00 / 5)
It was not even close, Those who know John and his extended family had no trouble deciding on who to support, in fact not only did we vote for Edwards, we alomost out voted the Republicans here in Oconee County for the first time in a few generations! I will always be in your corner John, and I will not only stick with you, I will runn as a proud Edwards delegate and be there with you in Denver to move our agenda forward. Big Mike

I'm glad JRE has not endorsed (3.00 / 6)
Neither Clinton nor Obama are focusing on the issues the way John did. I'm glad he recognizes this. He will definitely make a difference in the next Democratic administration. I hope those that support him honor his wishes.

Nader (3.00 / 2)
I saw Nader on CSPAN this morning.  He sounded like he was pumped up for his campaign.

He had all the answers.

He sounds, far and away, more like JRE than either Clinton or Obama do.

Plus, we KNOW where Ralphie boy stands vis-a-vis big, predatory corporations and finance companies, not to mention Washington lobbyists.

I'm thinking of throwing my support to him.

Anybody else want to discuss it?

These things I have spoken to you so that in Me you may have peace.  In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world. -- John 16:33

I´m willing to discuss it & I know that Nader (3.00 / 3)
supported JRE and would not have entered the race this time if JRE had become the nominee.

On the other hand, JRE is a Democrat with a capital D. That´s why JRE suspended his campaign. JRE did that for the good of the party. JRE realized he did not have enough support to win the nomination and he did´t want to be in the position of causing a split in the party or being a "king or queen maker".

So, in my opinion, but that´s my opinion and interpretation, that´s why JRE has not endorsed either Clinton or Obama. He can use his influence to influence the party platform, but he doesn´t want to influence which candidate wins the nomination (as one is not better than the other).

I think any Edwards supporter would be doing a disservice to Edwards, in supporting Nader or suporting the notion that JRE should run as an independent. JRE won´t do that, so that´s a dead end at any rate and such a push from Edwards supporters could be potentially embarrassing to JRE and even weaken his power within the Democratic Party.

I want to hear what Nader has to say and am glad he (3.00 / 1)
is ready to keep our candidates a little more to the left.  Come November, I hope he doesn't get enough votes to notice because I sure don't want McCain as pres.

I don't think Nader's campaign is about getting votes.  I think it is about demanding freedeom of speech and not letting it be undermined by either corporate media or party structures (which, whether we like it or not, are becoming more and more similar, just as he says).

I was mad at him in 2000, but no longer blame him.  The Supreme Court, Jeb Bush, R Secretaries of State and Diebold would have ensured a Bush victory anyway.

We should never squelch free speech in the name of strategy.  If our nominee cannot keep Dem's votes from going to Nader, then something is seriously wrong with our nominee.

Any one is free to speak and free to run (0.00 / 0)
and anyone is free to vote for whomever they choose. I would never question any of those rights.
